Our first project "Fleet 2000" was supported by many sponsors including Sport England. It enabled SYCSA to enhance it's fleet of dinghies and begin our recovery.

The new facilities created an increase in demand for sailing, hence we needed to extend our horizons into our second project:

"Fleet 2000 and beyond"

This project to broaden our sailing fleet began in 2000 and ended in 2006. We were able to plough back moneys made from our courses and gain further financial support from local firms including Gerber Foods and Soft Drinks, GE Elfun and Sedgemoor District Council.

The success of this project created demand for excellence and a wider sailing experience from our sailors. Inevitably we had to launch our third project in 2008:

"Beyond Fleet 2000"

To meet the new demand for training and racing opportunities, we needed to improve our facilities by adding new dinghies. This project was supported by Viridor Credits Environmental Company, Sedgemoor District Council, Bridgwater Freemasons and Energy Solutions.

Having focused on fleet enhancement for 10 years, in 2009 we decided we needed to broaden the spectrum of people who used our facilities by targeting the disadvantaged, disabled and more able youngsters in our local community. We therefore launched our fourth project in 2010.

"Enable Youth"

Our 2010project involved adding 2 performance dinghies and small sails for some of our existing dinghies.

As part of the project we also delivered free sailing sessions to over 180 youngsters from local primary schools.

This project brought us full-circle by gaining more funding from Sport England and a new sponsor the "Have a Heart" Foundation.

"Enable All to Sail"

During our success of "Enable Youth" project, many people told us that they also wanted to try sailing on a low or no cost basis, and "Enable All" was born.

To fund the project and make up for income lost through offering over 500 free places, we approached the Big Lottery Peoples Millions fund.

After a successful campaign, we won £49K in a phone vote on ITV against as second project.

The money will allowed us to update our fleet of dinghies and give over 500 local people the chance of free sailing sessions.

"Enable Youth Racing"

This is our current project for 2012, we aim to support our young sailors who wish to race.

To do this we aim to buy 6 Topper dinghies for them to use on a low or no cost basis.

SYCSA thanks all of its generous sponsors for their support of our successful projects.

We look forward to working with you again on our future projects and on our ongoing project:
