On a glorious sunny day in August 2009, we held our first Open Afternoon for sailors with disabilities.

In ideal sunny conditions with a fair wind, over 40 disabled sailors and their carers spent a lovely afternoon being introduced to sailing in a Taster Open Afternoon.

They enjoyed the free session so much, they asked for further sessions in the future.

The afternoon was organised by Lisa Hodge and supported by volunteer sailors, powerboat crew and ground helpers.

A good time was had by all, hence we plan to run another Open Afternoon in 2010.

Getting ready, Launching, Afloat, Happy sailors.

Earlier in the season, Lisa ran another great day for a local school which teaches Special Needs youngsters.

Capsize practice, Fun, I can sail.
