September 24th and 25th saw the third weekend of SYCSA/DSC young sailors on tour, this time they travelled to the RYA Volvo Regional and Home Championships at Restronguet.

Report from Jon Webster:

We all went down to the South West Topper and Optimist Zone Championships at Restronguet where there were two fleets in each class the Regatta and the Main fleets.

When we arrived on the Saturday morning I was expecting to see a couple of friendly faces that we knew but to our delight Des Robertson was there with Luke and Joel, then Luke Warmen arrived as well so we almost felt like we were at home.

A great weekend was had by all at a fantastic location, the weather held out just right for us.

At the prize giving SYCSA/Durleigh definitely had their name on the map with Luke Robertson getting a Third in the main Topper fleet and Hollie Hunt getting a third in the Optimist Regatta fleet and Caitlin Webster getting a second also in the Optimist Regatta Fleet.

I didn't realise how tough the competition is at these events so I think we should all be very proud of the girls and boys that are representing our club.

In addition, Ruth Berkley worked for the 2 days as Assistant Instructor on the Topper Regatta fleet.

I would like to say a massive well done to.

Izzie and Ruth Berkley, Luke Roberts, Luke Warmen, Joel Roberts, Hollie Hunt, Caitlin Webster and Ewan Beattie.

All of them did us proud.

After the sailing on Saturday, GBR 2012 Olympic sailor Kate McGregor talked to sailors about her career and answered their questions.
