After a wet & windy 2007, the 2008 season was like a breath of fresh air.

In the mild conditions of 2008, the wind was kind and gave us an excellent sailing season.

• 2 adults successfully completed a RYA Level 3 "Seamanship Skills" certificate
• 6 adults successfully completed a RYA Level 2 "Basic Skills" course
• and 1 a RYA Level 1"Start Sailing" course.
• In addition we had 6 adults in filling on various days who were all presented with a RYA "Taste of Sailing" certificate.
• We also had 15 adults taking the opportunity to try sailing through our "Get Started" taster sailing sessions.
• 17 Ladies beginners and 7 women instructors had a great time sailing on the 2 Ladies only evenings, both of which were full.

On the youth sailing side we ran successful taster Playsail sessions for Selworthy School, Trinity Scout group from Taunton.

7 young sailors from Otterhampton School successfully completed their RYA Youth Stage 1 "Start Sailing" course. Some youngsters continued on their success in 2007 achieved RYA Youth Stage 2. They enjoyed the sailing so much, that some of the group continued to sail with the Saturday Morning Club after their course had finished.

Our first course for Brymore School was attended by 7young sailors, all achieved Stage 1 of the RYA Young Sailors scheme while one youngster who had some previous sailing experience achieved Stage 2.

In another first, we successfully ran a course for Queens College Junior School, Taunton and were delighted when all 12 young sailors achieved their RYA Youth Stage 1 certificates.

8 Richard Huish College students from Taunton successfully completed a RYA Adult Level 1 "Start Sailing" course. 7 of the group also achieved Level 2 "Basic Skills".

Over 100 voracious young sailors and their parents used the new galley facilities to provide a hearty lunch at the annual SYCSA BBQ

and

over 35 SYCSA members had a great time sailing out of the Mountbatten Centre at Plymouth on our annual tidal Instructor training week.
