The 2008 season must be one of SYCSA's best in terms of qualifying Instructors.

Lisa Hodge became our 10th qualified Senior Instructor through an early season course on the sea off the Mount Batten Centre in Plymouth. Not only did Lisa qualify but she had the highest scores in her group on the assessments.

As the season developed 5 of our Assistant Instructors moved up to become qualified Instructors. We now have 10 active Instructors.

Jack Baker was the first to qualify through a course at Weymouth, followed by Scott Bonner, Luke Martin, Steve Salter, Alex Upton and Richard York via a course put on by SYCSA at Durleigh and finally Aleksander Sedgwick-Wilde who brave the cold later in the season to qualify at the Mount Batten Centre in Plymouth.

In addition to these successes, we also gained 3 Race Coaches with Aleksander Sedgwick-Wilde attending and passing a RYA Level 2 course at Mount Batten, while Scott Bonner and Richard York gained Level 1 Race Coach status through the SYCSA Instructor course at Durleigh.

The Instructor course, which ran at Durleigh was a first for SYCSA, we had enough Assistant Instructors to have converted 10 volunteers into Instructors had they all been able to make the dates.

For a small voluntary organisation, this is an outstanding achievement.

Well done all of you.
