Gavin was one of the very early members of the Saturday Club. For several seasons, he gained sailing experience with SYCSA and DSC.

Gav moved on to National Youth Sailing via Laser Winter Training @ Roadwater Lake. Then, with parental support, gained his Instructor ticket and raced in the Youth Nationals. His best performance was 4th in the National Laser Trials.

He went to Australia to watch the Olympics and stayed on to do some sailing. Having sailed "49'ers" in Aus, he came back via the Med to work for Sunsail before returning to the UK. Next, Gav got a degree at University, whilst sailing, windsurfing and kite-surfing at weekends.

After University Gav learned to fly helicopers in the forces, where he is still engaged.
