Our first project "Fleet 2000" was supported by many sponsors including Sport England. It enabled SYCSA to enhance it's fleet of dinghies.
The new facilities created an increase in demand for sailing, hence we now need to extend our horizons even further through our latest project:
"Beyond Fleet 2000"
To meet new demand for training and racing opportunities
We need to improve our facilities by adding:
6 new Toppers (5 achieved in 2008)
3 new Oppi's
3 new Optimists (Achieved in 2008)
3 new Pico's (1 achieved in 2008)
1 new Comet Trio
2 new performance boats e.g. Laser 3000, 420
A wider range of dinghies by adding e.g. a Magno, RS Vision
6 new 4.7 Lasers
1 new road trailer to accommodate 3 dinghies
Class sails for all dinghies
A wider range of life jackets (Achieved in 2008)
Additional spray suits (Achieved in 2008)
We need to expand our volunteer base by:
Convert up to 15 Assistant Instructors into Dinghy Instructors by 2013 ( 7 in 2008)
Train up to 5 new Powerboat Instructors by 2013
Train up to 5 Advanced Dinghy Instructors by 2013
Train up to 5 new Senior Instructors by 2013 ( 1 in 2008)Convert up to 5 volunteers into Race Coaches/Instructors by 2013 ( 3 in 2008)

"Fleet 2000"
SYCSA's first project was achieved in 1999. We needed to increase the size of our training fleet; due to growing numbers of people, especially youngsters, who wanted to take up sailing. These numbers have continued to grow, hence the need for the new project "Fleet 2000 and beyond".
The "Fleet 2000" project:
